Fire damper replacement
Not every failure can be serviced out. Where a damper is corroded through, distorted, seized beyond recovery or was wrong for the application in the first place, replacement is the only honest answer.
When replacement is the right call
Many failures can be put right without replacing anything. Seized mechanisms can often be freed and serviced, spent fusible links swapped, and blades fouled by paint or overspray cleaned back to free movement. We always price the lesser repair where it will hold.
Replacement becomes the right answer when the casing or blades have corroded, when the unit has been distorted by building movement or impact, when the damper is undersized or unrated for the compartment it sits in, or when previous work has damaged it beyond service.
We tell you which of those applies, with photographs, so you are choosing between priced options rather than taking our word for it.

How replacement is carried out
The replacement unit is a certified damper matched to the fire resistance period of the construction it penetrates, installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and BESA DW/145.
That includes the builders work around the opening and the fire-rated making good of the penetration, which is the part most often skimped and the part an assessor will look at. The new asset is tested, photographed and added to your register with its own reference.
